Rubumco Painting is a family-owned painting and contracting company built on decades of experience, quality workmanship, and strong relationships within the communities we serve.

Today, Rubumco is owned and operated by Dan and Kayla Bowen, a husband-and-wife team who bring two very different—but complementary—skill sets to the business. Together, we are proud to carry Rubumco into its next chapter while staying true to the quality and reputation the company has been known for since 1999.

Meet Dan & Kayla Bowen

Dan’s history with Rubumco goes back more than 20 years. He first began working with and for Rubumco founder Russ Bumgarner in 2005 and has spent years developing his skills and knowledge of the painting industry. As a highly experienced painter, Dan understands the importance of proper preparation, quality materials, attention to detail, and doing a job right from beginning to end.

Dan grew up on Camano Island, giving him deep roots in the community and a firsthand understanding of the homes, properties, and unique Pacific Northwest conditions in the area we serve.

Kayla brings the business and project-management side of Rubumco together. Originally from California, she has called Washington home for more than 20 years and attended college for Business Management. She oversees much of the day-to-day operation of the company, including customer communication, estimates, contracts, project coordination, and the behind-the-scenes details that keep projects moving smoothly.

Together, Dan and Kayla are raising four children and understand how important your home, time, and investment are to your family. As business owners, they believe customers should be treated the way they would want their own family to be treated—with honesty, respect, clear communication, and dependable service.

While painting will always be at the heart of Rubumco, the company has grown to offer a broader range of painting, remodeling, construction, and property improvement services. We work with experienced professionals across the trades, allowing us to take on projects of many different sizes while maintaining the quality and personal service our customers expect.

The Rubumco Story

Rubumco Painting was founded by Russ Bumgarner in 1999 after he began painting homes at just 15 years old and continued learning the trade through high school and college. Over the next 25+ years, Russ built Rubumco into a trusted local company, with much of its success coming from repeat customers and word-of-mouth referrals. Dan had the opportunity to work alongside Russ beginning in 2005, learning firsthand the standards and workmanship that helped build Rubumco’s reputation. We are grateful for everything Russ built and proud to carry the Rubumco name and legacy forward.
